ApexSQL Knowledgebase Tips and How-to Articles for ApexSQL Tools ApexSQL Log update to the latest public version APPLIES TO ApexSQL Log 2008.06 and below SUMMARY This article describes how to update the server side components after updating the client side of the application. ApexSQL Log auto-updater updates the client side of the application only. That means that the server-side components and Connection Monitor from the previous version of ApexSQL Log still reside on the SQL Server and are running. This part of the application needs to be updated manually. Server-side components update could be performed in two ways: 1. If ApexSQL Log is started after the update, server side components update will be offered automatically, after you click Next in the Log Selection Wizard dialog. ![]() ![]() 2. Using the Connection Monitor Manager in the Tools menu. ![]() ![]() When you click Connect, the same information dialog for server-side components updating will appear. After the server-side components are updated, the Connection Monitor keeps saving the data in msdb.APEXSQL_LOG_LOGIN table. This behavior can be changed through the Data Capture tab of the Connection Monitor Manager dialog (click here for more details). Note: After the application is auto-updated you might need to manually run vcredist_x86.exe which is updated and placed in ApexSQL Log installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\ApexSQL\ApexSQLLog2008) on the machine where SQL Server is installed. This installer is required for correct operation of server-side components.
