ApexSQL Knowledgebase Tips and How-to Articles for ApexSQL Tools How to integrate an SQL Server Management Studio with ApexSQL tools DESCRIPTION This article demonstrates how to integrate SQL Server Management Studio editor with ApexSQL tools SOLUTION Often, when it is required to load and open large SQL scripts produced in ApexSQL tools the ApexSQL Editor may not be the best solution for the job, because the ApexSQL built in editor is not designed to handle large files. For that purpose SQL Server Management Studio should be used. Here as a showcase we will integrate SQL Server Management Studio to ApexSQL Diff but the similarly it can be integrated to ApexSQL Data Diff, ApexSQL Script and others. * From the Main Menu select Tools | Options * From the Options dialog select Output tab as shown in the image ![]() * Select SQL Server Management Studio Version you want to use (here I used 2005 version) ![]() * Click OK to confirm You have successfully set the SQL Server Management Studio as your default SQL Server editor. Now, ApexSQL Diff will open SQL Server Management Studio when 'Launch Synchronization Script Editor' option is used in the Synchronization Wizard. ![]() ![]() ![]() AUTHOR Dejan Batanjac LAST REVIEW DATE July 15 2009 Labels: Apex SQL Data Diff, Apex SQL Diff, Apex SQL Script |
